Shopify offers Local Delivery features.
It is beneficial to enable local delivery when order tracking is required up to the point of delivery by the driver.
When preparing an item in the store for an order, the status "Ready for delivery" is marked.
Shopify uses Google services to prepare the optimal delivery route.
The driver can use the Shopify app to complete the delivery along the route and mark the order as handed over to the customer.
The available order delivery statuses are:
- Unfulfilled;
- Ready for delivery;
- Out for delivery;
- Attempted delivery;
- Delivered.
After the delivery is completed, the order status changes to Fulfilled.
To activate the local delivery feature, you need to set a flag for the warehouse indicating that local delivery is available and specify the service area (maximum distance from the warehouse to the customer).
You will also need to install the free Shopify Local Delivery app.
