The switching point is around ₴200,000 a month in turnover. Below that, the Thank You page option is the better deal: the one-time ₴8,800 pays for itself in one to two months, the total cost is 1.3% on Ukrainian cards, and there is no monthly Shopify Payment Apps fee. At that volume, pending orders are easy to keep on top of manually or through Shopify Flow.
From ₴200,000 a month, and as international payments grow, the Shopify Checkout option starts to win: the order is created only after payment (no mismatch with your bank statement), you are fully compliant with Shopify rules (no AUP risk), and Shop Pay, Shopify Markets and Checkout UI Extensions are available without restrictions. Moving to the Shopify Advanced plan saves a further 1.4 percentage points per transaction.

how it works
the customer places an order
The customer adds products to the cart and places an order in the usual way in the Shopify store. When using the cash on delivery option, they select the delivery method "Nova Poshta cash on delivery" at the delivery step.
payment on the Thank You Page
After placing an order, the customer is taken to the Thank You Page, where the payment section is displayed. Two options are available: a "Pay by Card" button (redirecting to the secure plata by mono page) and a QR code for payment via IBAN. The customer chooses the most convenient method.
status automatically changes to Paid
After successful payment by card via plata by mono, the webhook immediately updates the order status in Shopify to Paid. When paying with a QR code, the system checks monobank and PrivatBank statements every 10 minutes and automatically marks the order as paid. In the KeyCRM option, the prepayment amount and the remaining balance are sent to the CRM as two separate financial records.

The order is created immediately after checkout, before payment. Payment takes place on the Thank You Page. This is the standard procedure for Ukrainian payment gateways, where payment is confirmed after the order is created. After successful payment, the status automatically changes to Paid.
Yes. plata by mono supports payment via Apple Pay, Google Pay, and payment directly from the monobank app (MonoPay) by default. The buyer does not need to enter card details — just confirm the payment on their device or app.
From 1 to 3 business days from the moment of payment, depending on the chosen option. Includes in-store installation, monobank API setup, testing with a real order, and instructions. For the KeyCRM option, an additional 1–2 days are required for CRM integration setup.
Card payment refunds are processed through the plata by mono account in monobank. QR payment refunds (transfer to IBAN) are done via internet banking as a regular transfer to the buyer's account. In both cases, the order status in Shopify can be marked as Refunded manually or through Shopify Flow.
