The order is created after a successful payment, so the store stays fully compliant with Shopify rules and protected from suspension.

three ways to connect online acquiring to Shopify — and why it matters
There are three fundamentally different ways to connect online acquiring (including plata by mono) to Shopify in the Ukrainian market: through the official Shopify Payment Apps API (our approach and Hutko's approach), through a Manual Payment Method with redirect (Walnut MultiPayments), or through a third-party checkout that replaces Shopify Checkout (Chekly). Only the first method is authorized by Shopify — the other two violate the platform's rules in different ways.

Source of criteria — official Shopify Payment Apps API documentation and Shopify Acceptable Use Policy. Shopify explicitly requires that all online sales go through the standard Shopify Checkout — replacing Checkout with a third-party solution is considered a direct violation of the platform and Partner Program rules. The Manual Payment Method is intended for offline payments (bank transfer, cash on delivery), not for online acquiring — its use with a redirect to a payment page is a gray area.

how it works
the customer chooses plata by mono at Checkout
On the standard Shopify Checkout page (Payment step), the customer sees the option "Pay by card plata by mono" alongside other payment methods. Icons of supported methods are displayed: Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, MonoPay. The customer selects the option and clicks "Pay now."
redirecting to the secure monobank page
Shopify uses the Payment Apps API to send the amount and session ID data to the payment app's servers. The customer is directed to a branded monobank payment page featuring your store's logo. They complete the payment (card entry, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or MonoPay).
The order is created and confirmed automatically
After a successful payment, monobank sends a confirmation via webhook. The Payment Apps API notifies Shopify, and the order is created in the admin panel immediately with the status Paid. The customer is directed to the standard Thank You Page. If the payment fails, the order is not created, and the customer is returned to Checkout to try again.

In the Checkout option, the order is created only after successful payment — this is the standard scheme of mainstream payment gateways. No unpaid orders, no manual moderation. The plata by mono on the Thank You Page option is available from ₴8,800.
Works through the official Shopify Payment Apps API — this is the standard mechanism that Shopify provides for payment providers. A ready-made payment app that has already passed Shopify review is used. The store fully complies with Shopify rules and is protected from blocking. Through the standard Shopify Admin — the Refund button on the order page. The Payment Apps API automatically sends the refund request to monobank. Funds are returned to the customer's card within the standard timeframe (up to 10 banking days).

No. After a one-time connection fee, there are no additional TradeMinister charges for using the app. The client only pays transaction fees — the breakdown by Shopify pricing plans is provided in the "technical details and fees" section. Server infrastructure, webhook monitoring, and updates for changes in the monobank / Shopify API are included in the developer's fee (0.4% per transaction).
Yes. The plata by mono acquiring service supports cards from any banks, including foreign ones. The commission for foreign cards is 2%. Important: some foreign payments may be declined by monobank's financial monitoring, especially for large amounts or suspicious activity. If international sales are a key channel, we recommend additionally connecting WayForPay for backup.
