Portmone for Shopify is a payment gateway of the national Ukrainian payment system Portmone (operating since 2002) on the Thank You Page. The standard commission is up to 2%, with individual rates for high turnover. Especially suitable for stores working with an audience accustomed to Portmone (utility payments, subscriptions, regular payments). Connection to QR payment according to NBU standard No. 97 (0% commissions, no PRRO) is available upon request as a separate service.

The switching point is around ₴200,000 a month in turnover. Below that, the Thank You page option is the better deal: the one-time ₴8,800 pays for itself in one to two months, the total cost is up to 2% on Ukrainian cards, and there is no monthly Shopify Payment Apps fee. At that volume, pending orders are easy to keep on top of manually or through Shopify Flow. There is one more advantage: Portmone’s native tokenization and recurring payments work on the Thank You page without restrictions — useful for subscription models, membership fees and regular deliveries.
From ₴200,000 a month, and as international payments grow, the Shopify Checkout option starts to win: the order is created only after payment (no mismatch with your bank statement), you are fully compliant with Shopify rules (no AUP risk), and Shop Pay, Shopify Markets and Checkout UI Extensions are available without restrictions. Moving to the Shopify Advanced plan saves a further 1.4 percentage points per transaction.

how it works
the customer places an order
The customer adds products to the cart and places an order in the usual way in the Shopify store. When using the cash on delivery option, they select the delivery method "Nova Poshta cash on delivery" at the delivery step.
payment on the Thank You Page
After placing an order, the customer is directed to the Thank You Page, where the payment section is displayed. Two options are available: a "Pay via Portmone" button (redirecting to a secure Portmone page with Apple Pay option) and a QR code for payment to the IBAN. The customer chooses the most convenient method.
status automatically changes to Paid
After successful payment, Portmone sends a callback with an MD5 signature to Shopify — the order status is immediately updated to Paid. When paying with a QR code, the system reconciles statements from monobank and PrivatBank every 10 minutes. In the KeyCRM option, the prepayment amount and the remaining balance are transferred to the CRM as two separate financial records. For subscription-based stores, the card token is saved for future automatic charges.

The standard Portmone rate of up to 2% applies to both Ukrainian and foreign cards. Manual Payment Method is not subject to the Shopify third-party transaction fee, so the total cost is identical on the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans. From ₴1,000,000 a month in turnover, individual rates from 1.5% are available, agreed directly with a Portmone manager.

Standard rate — up to 2% per successful transaction, with no subscription fee and no connection fee. The exact rate depends on the store category and turnover — it is agreed upon with the Portmone manager during registration. Individual rates are available for high-turnover stores. There are no additional transaction fees from TradeMinister or Shopify.
Portmone is optimal for stores where: (1) part of the audience is users aged 30+ who are accustomed to using Portmone for paying utilities and communication services, (2) there is a subscription model, membership fees, or regular deliveries — Portmone natively supports recurring payments and card tokenization, (3) an additional payment option is needed alongside the main acquiring service (monobank, LiqPay) to increase conversion at the payment stage.
Current account for an individual entrepreneur or LLC in any Ukrainian bank and an account in Portmone (registration is free at portmone.com.ua). After registration and verification, Portmone provides a store identifier (payee_id), login, and password for the API. An active Shopify store on any plan is also required.
The order is created immediately after checkout, before payment. Payment takes place on the Thank You Page. This is the standard procedure for Ukrainian payment gateways. After successful payment, the order status is automatically changed to Paid via a callback from Portmone with an MD5 signature.
Portmone supports card tokenization — when you make your first payment, the card is saved in Portmone’s secure storage and receives a token. For subsequent payments, the buyer does not enter card details — the charge is made automatically using the token. This is convenient for: stores with a subscription model, regular deliveries (every month/week), and service subscription fees. For the seller, this model provides stable and predictable income.
Yes. Portmone supports Apple Pay on all iOS devices. The buyer does not need to enter card details — just confirm the payment on their device using Touch ID or Face ID. Google Pay is supported with limitations depending on the store configuration — this is clarified during setup.
