Shopify has partnered with JD.com to expand into China.
JD.com will allow Shopify sellers to open stores in China within three to four weeks, whereas foreign brands usually need about 12 months to start selling in the country. The Chinese company will handle price conversion and shipping from the US to China through its logistics division.
For JD.com, the partnership is an opportunity to strengthen its presence outside China and enhance its competitive advantage through foreign brands.
