LiqPay Checkout for Shopify is a full PrivatBank payment gateway embedded into the standard Shopify Checkout page through the official Shopify Payment Apps API. The order is created after a successful payment, so the store stays fully compliant with Shopify rules and protected from suspension.

three ways to connect online acquiring to Shopify — and why it matters
There are three fundamentally different ways to connect online acquiring (including LiqPay) to Shopify in the Ukrainian market: through the official Shopify Payment Apps API (our approach), through a Manual Payment Method with redirect (Walnut MultiPayments), or through a third-party checkout that replaces Shopify Checkout (Chekly). Only the first method is authorized by Shopify — the other two violate the platform's rules in different ways.

Source of criteria — official Shopify Payment Apps API documentation and Shopify Acceptable Use Policy. Shopify explicitly requires that all online sales go through the standard Shopify Checkout — replacing Checkout with a third-party solution is considered a direct violation of the platform and Partner Program rules. The Manual Payment Method is intended for offline payments (bank transfer, cash on delivery), not for online acquiring — its use with a redirect to a payment page is a gray area.
Which option to choose: Thank You Page or Shopify Checkout
We offer two options for connecting LiqPay to Shopify. They differ not only in price but also in how they work: the Thank You Page option starts at 8,800 ₴; QR payment (NBU standard No. 97) is available upon request as a separate service. The Checkout option via the Payment Apps API is more expensive but provides clear financial reporting without pending orders and standard mainstream gateways.

On the standard Shopify Checkout page (Payment step), the customer sees the option "Pay with LiqPay" alongside other payment methods. Icons of supported methods are displayed: Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Privat24. The customer selects the option and clicks "Pay now."

Shopify uses the Payment Apps API to send the amount and session ID data to the payment app's servers. The customer is directed to a branded LiqPay page with your store's logo. They complete the payment (card entry, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Privat24 for PrivatBank clients — without entering card details).
The order is created and confirmed automatically
After a successful payment, LiqPay returns confirmation via a server-to-server callback with an HMAC-SHA1 signature. The Payment Apps API notifies Shopify, and the order is created in the admin panel immediately with the status Paid. The buyer is directed to the standard Thank You Page. If the payment fails, the order is not created, and the buyer is returned to Checkout to try again.

The calculation includes the Shopify third-party fee, developer commission (0.4%), Shopify platform fee (0.35%), and LiqPay acquiring commission of 2.75% (standard). For turnover from ₴500,000/month, an individual LiqPay rate from 1.5% is available — in this case, the total commission is reduced by 1.25 percentage points. For turnovers from ₴500,000/month, switching to the Shopify Advanced plan pays off in 2–4 months.

A ready-made payment app that has already passed Shopify review is used. Server infrastructure, callback monitoring, and updates for changes in the LiqPay / Shopify API are included in the developer's fee (0.4% per transaction).
Yes. LiqPay accepts cards from any bank, including foreign ones. The standard LiqPay rate (2.75%) applies equally to Ukrainian and international cards. For customers from other countries, Apple Pay and Google Pay are also available. If international sales are a key channel, we recommend using Shopify Markets for accurate price display in local currency.
