in depth — PrivatBank «Oplata Chastynamy» on Shopify

How do I connect PrivatBank’s «Oplata Chastynamy» and «Instant Instalment» to Shopify?

Setup through TradeMinister takes 1–3 business days. The integration is built on LiqPay (the paysplit action for «Oplata Chastynamy» and payparts for «Instant Instalment») using the public keys of your PrivatBank «Internet Oplata Chastynamy» dashboard. You will need: a business account for a sole proprietor or LLC at PrivatBank, an active LiqPay account (free), the «Internet Oplata Chastynamy» service registered in Privat24 for business (free, under “Services — Instalments”), and a live Shopify store on any plan. Rates and terms come from privatbank.ua/business/oplata-chastynamy.

How do PrivatBank instalments work for a Shopify merchant?

On the product page or in the cart the customer chooses “PrivatBank instalments”, picks the programme and a number of payments between 2 and 25. LiqPay redirects them to PrivatBank, where they identify themselves through BankID or Privat24; the bank either checks the limit on their Universal card (for «Oplata Chastynamy») or issues a purpose loan online with a qualified electronic signature (for «Instant Instalment»). Once approved, LiqPay posts a callback to the store’s server and Shopify switches the order to Paid. PrivatBank credits the merchant’s account with the order amount less the fee within two hours, on the day of sale. The customer repays the bank monthly — which no longer concerns the merchant.

How much does a PrivatBank instalments integration for Shopify cost?

The one-time setup fee through TradeMinister is ₴8,800. It covers: registering and configuring the «Internet Oplata Chastynamy» dashboard, obtaining and linking the LiqPay public keys, installing the “from ₴X/month” widget on the product page and in the cart, integrating the paysplit and payparts actions, configuring the callback handler and automatic switching of the order to Paid, testing on a real order and providing documentation for your team. Registration with PrivatBank and LiqPay is free for the store itself. TradeMinister charges no subscription — the merchant pays only PrivatBank’s fee on each transaction (from 2.3% to 27.3% depending on the number of payments).

What fees does the merchant pay PrivatBank for instalments?

The fee depends on the number of payments and is withheld once, when the revenue is credited. The full «Oplata Chastynamy» tariff (source: privatbank.ua): 2 — 2.3%, 3 — 2.5%, 4 — 3.6%, 5 — 5.3%, 6 — 6.5%, 7 — 7.7%, 8 — 8.8%, 9 — 9.9%, 10 — 11.2%, 11 — 12.5%, 12 — 13.7%, 13 — 14.8%, 14 — 16%, 15 — 17%, 16 — 18.1%, 17 — 19.1%, 18 — 20.1%, 19 — 21.1%, 20 — 22.3%, 21 — 23.2%, 22 — 24.3%, 23 — 25.3%, 24 — 26.3%, 25 — 27.3%. Under «Instant Instalment» the fee is about one percentage point lower — the difference is covered by the customer through a 1.9% markup. To keep costs down, a store can cap the maximum number of payments in the «Internet Oplata Chastynamy» dashboard (at five or twelve, for example).

How does PrivatBank’s «Oplata Chastynamy» differ from monobank’s «Pay in Parts»?

In principle the two programmes work the same way — instalments from 2–3 up to 25 payments, with the merchant paid immediately less the fee. The differences: audience — PrivatBank covers Universal cardholders plus «Instant Instalment» for everyone else, while monobank covers only monobank customers with a pre-approved «Pay in Parts» limit. Integration channel — PrivatBank through LiqPay, monobank through its own API. Standard acquiring fee — monobank charges 1.3% on Ukrainian cards against PrivatBank’s standard acquiring rate, but under an instalment programme the rate from the instalment table applies. For the widest customer coverage it is worth connecting both programmes: PrivatBank and monobank cards together account for 70%+ of the Ukrainian market.

Who are PrivatBank instalments right for on Shopify?

They work best for Shopify stores selling items from ₴1,000 to ₴500,000: home appliances and electronics (fridges, laptops, smartphones, TVs), furniture and interiors, mid- and high-end clothing and footwear, jewellery and watches, sports equipment, courses and online schools, travel packages, subscriptions and insurance, car accessories. They also suit stores that already bank with PrivatBank and use LiqPay — adding the instalment programme requires no new bank accounts. There is no point connecting them if your average order value is below ₴300, which is the programme minimum.

«Oplata Chastynamy» is available only to PrivatBank customers holding a Universal credit card — the bank issues no new loan and simply uses the card’s existing limit. The customer markup is 0.000001% (effectively zero). «Instant Instalment» is for customers without a PrivatBank credit card: the bank issues a purpose loan online with a qualified electronic signature, at a 1.9% monthly markup. which product categories can be sold this way?

According to PrivatBank: home appliances (TVs, vacuum cleaners, microwaves, washing machines, fridges), electronics (smartphones, tablets, consoles, audio), jewellery (rings, earrings, chains, watches), clothing, footwear and accessories (including children’s), homeware (furniture, renovation, power tools), online education (courses, IT schools, driving schools), subscriptions and insurance. Excise goods and categories restricted by the bank’s rules are not eligible.

how are refunds handled on returns?

Refunds are issued from the «Internet Oplata Chastynamy» dashboard or through the LiqPay API (both full and partial refunds are supported). The merchant returns the corresponding amount to the bank; PrivatBank settles with the customer from there.
