A client requested to connect the Nova Poshta delivery service to a store on the Shopify platform. The wish was to create a Nova Poshta waybill (TTN) with one click. We suggested going even further and creating the waybill automatically. The one-click requirement for a certain type of orders was also fulfilled.
To connect Nova Poshta, we used the public app Nova Poshta Shipping.
Store conditions.
Product:
- Dimensions allow shipping from most branches
- Standard packaging from Nova Poshta or the product is supplied in the manufacturer’s packaging.
Delivery:
- Delivery to a Nova Poshta branch
- Delivery to a parcel locker
- Courier delivery to the address
Payment for the product:
- Credit card payment acceptance
- Cash on delivery with the Nova Poshta "Payment Control" feature enabled
Payment for delivery:
- According to Nova Poshta tariffs upon order receipt by the buyer
- Online receipt (PRRO) is generated before shipping the product to the buyer or immediately after payment by credit card
Scenario 1. How to create a Nova Poshta waybill automatically?
The buyer pays for the order by card. Delivery to a branch or by courier.
Card payment in the store means the order has already been confirmed by the client, and no call is needed to verify the order’s validity.
To create the waybill automatically, you need to configure the Nova Poshta Shipping app.
A delivery method selection widget was added to the cart.
Then, delivery methods were configured in the Shopify admin panel under Shipping.
In the Nova Poshta Shipping app settings, we specified who pays for delivery, the delivery method, and the payment receipt method.
The "Payment Control" feature is enabled upon payment receipt. This method assumes that payment for the product will be transferred to the store’s account by the Nova Pay service.
Next, we linked the corresponding Nova Poshta delivery method to each delivery option.
Finally, for each product, we specified the packaging used for delivery.
The last setting is enabling the automatic waybill creation mode. Upon receiving an order, the waybill will be created automatically.
As a result, for typical cases when one product is ordered, the waybill is created automatically.
We discovered an interesting app feature – if the product was sent cash on delivery, then upon delivery, the financial status of the order in Shopify automatically changes from Pending to Paid.
